Varostop - strips 3.6mg/strip, impregnated strips for honey bees

Active substances:

• An impregnated strip contains the active substance Flumethrin 3.6 gr

Indications:

• For the diagnosis, prophylaxis and treatment of varus in bee colonies.
• Varotop strips is very well tolerated by bees and is easy to administer. It shows a high effectiveness against Varroa destructor mites - up to 98.6% at the end of the treatment period (keeping in the hive).

Contraindications / Adverse reactions:

• Varostop - strips are not used during honey harvesting seasons.
• If you notice serious reactions or other effects that are not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform the veterinary medicine.

Administration method

For prophylaxis:

• Apply 1 or 2 strips.

For treatment:

The dose depends on the strength of the bee colony:

• Families of young or lightly infested bees: 2 bands
• Normally developed bee families: 4 bands

The strips are applied during the spring or autumn seasons.

The strips will be placed between every two frames, in the upper third of the hive.

The strips will be kept in the hive for 35 days but no more than 6 weeks.

For the diagnosis of varroosis:

• A sheet of white paper is placed on the floor of the hive. Apply 1-2 strips that will be kept in the hive for 24 hours, checking the presence of dead mites on the sheet of white paper.

Recommendations regarding correct administration:

• The aluminum foil package must be opened and the strips removed only immediately before use.
• The strips are placed between the spaces between the honeycombs, in the central area and in the upper third of the hive, hung between the frames.

Treatment of bee colonies with Varostop should be carried out as follows:

Early spring - when there are no large areas with brood in the bee family.

• During the summer - after the honey picking season, when the queens are strongly restricted from laying eggs, the areas in the hive with bees and brood are small, the rest of the areas are full of honey and most of the female mites are attached to the bees. The treatment is applied directly after the extraction of the honey obtained after the main harvest.
• In the fall - when the areas with brood gradually decrease.

• Keep out of sight and reach of children.
• Do not store at a temperature higher than 30ºC.
• To be kept in the original packaging.
• Do not use this veterinary product after the expiry date marked on the box. The expiration date refers to the last day of that month.
• Do not open the aluminum foil package until before use.
• Use of acaricidal substances with caution
• Parasite resistance can develop to any class of acaricides following the frequent and repeated use of acaricidal substances from the same class.
• In order to reduce the potential for the development of resistance, it is recommended that the use of flumethrin in the beehive be planned annually as part of a treatment to combat Varroa and other classes of acaricides.
• Using the product in deviation from the mentioned instructions can increase the prevalence of Varroa mites resistant to pyrethroids.
• The strips will not be left in the hives for more than six weeks and the strips will not be reused, because it could trigger the development of resistance.
• Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals.
• Wash your hands after using/handling the strips, before eating and after finishing work. Do not open the package until immediately before use. Avoid contact of the strips with honey.
• Do not eat, drink or smoke while using the product.
• It is not used simultaneously with other drugs to combat varroosis.
• It is not used simultaneously with other medicines to combat nosemosis.

DOSAGE

Solid pharmaceutical form - thin strips of wood material (beech plywood) impregnated with flumethrin, does not allow overdose.
